Know your parent is up and moving — without cameras or wearables

The ESP32 Services Activity Sensor is a small plug-in radar sensor that notices everyday movement in the kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom. If it sees no movement for 12 hours, it emails up to three people so someone can call or check in.

How it works

Plug the sensor into a wall outlet, using an ordinary USB-A adapter, in a room your parent uses every day. It connects to the home’s Wi-Fi and quietly notes when someone moves nearby. There’s nothing for your parent to wear, charge, or press. Step-by-step Wi-Fi instructions are in our FAQ.

What you’ll see

Family members can check simple Activity trend and Hourly detections charts from any phone or computer, showing when your parent was up and about each day. A restless night or a late start stands out at a glance. See it for yourself in the Activity sensor demo.

When you’ll hear from it

The 12-hour countdown starts with the first movement the sensor sees.

  • No movement for 12 hours: the first email goes out.
  • Still no movement: reminders follow 2 hours later, 4 hours later, and then every 6 hours until someone is seen moving or the alert is cancelled.
  • Movement again: you get an email saying motion has resumed, and the countdown starts over.
  • The sensor itself goes quiet: if it has been unplugged, the Wi-Fi is lost or if there’s a power failure, the alert says so, so you know it’s the sensor and not your parent.

Sharing with family

The account holder can add up to two more people to receive alerts. Each of them can create their own account with an email address and password to view the dashboard. The account holder chooses which of them can view it. Only the account holder can change the alert settings or switch alerts off.

Private by design

There is no camera and no microphone. The radar senses movement, not images, so it never records what anyone looks like or what they’re doing. Your parent keeps their privacy, and you get peace of mind.

Placement

A kitchen or bathroom countertop is ideal. Those are rooms your parent visits every day, and the counter height keeps small pets out of view.

Settings

The Activity Sensor comes ready to use, with settings that suit most homes:

  • Email alerts: on
  • Inactivity period: 12 hours
  • Radar detection distance: 1–5 ft
  • Radar sensitivity: 8

If a large dog or a ceiling fan triggers the sensor, you can adjust the detection distance and reduce the sensitivity from the dashboard.

Going away?

If your parent is traveling or staying with family, the account holder can switch alerts off from the dashboard and back on when they’re home.
